Secondary Dominant

rent-a-dominant, any target

Any major or minor chord in the key can be preceded by its own dominant — a chord borrowed from the target's world, written V/x. One chromatic note buys a gravitational pull toward a chord of your choosing. The diatonic 7° is the one chord that can never be a target.
