A four-chord descent to the dominant of a minor key — in home-major numbers: 6- → 5 → 4 → 3⁷ (Am–G–F–E in C's family). The bass falls stepwise through a whole tetrachord, which is why it feels like fate. Flamenco owns it; rock, metal, and hip-hop all rent it constantly.
