The Harmonic-Minor Moment

(from 6-): 1 · 2 · b3 · 4 · 5 · b6 · 7

Not a scale you live in — a scale you visit for one bar. When the 3⁷ appears aiming at the 6- (the V/vi, the Flamenco Sting, the Andalusian's last stair), switch to the relative minor's harmonic minor for exactly that chord: its raised 7th IS the 3⁷'s major third, and the exotic b6-to-7 gap is the flamenco sound itself. One bar of controlled exotica, then back to the diatonic pool.
